In a recent report by Gurman, it has been revealed that Apple is developing innovative health features for its AirPods, which could potentially render other hearing-aid apps obsolete. One of the features mentioned is a hearing-test capability that would play various tones and sounds through the AirPods to assess a person’s hearing ability. Similar to the Apple Watch ECG app that detects heart problems, this feature aims to provide users with a convenient and accurate assessment of their hearing health.

Although Apple already offers features like Live Listen and Conversation Boost, which essentially transforms AirPods into on-demand hearing aids, these functionalities are currently not FDA-approved. The new hearing-test feature would likely surpass the need for other third-party hearing-aid apps, further enhancing the AirPods’ appeal.

Another exciting development mentioned by Gurman is a feature that measures body temperature through the ear canal. This is certainly intriguing! Apple believes that this method provides more precise readings than those obtained from the wrist, which is currently used by the Apple Watch Series 8 and Ultra models during sleep tracking. There have been many positive reviews on the sleep tracking feature so the new features could become very popular amongst the public. Airchat also seems to be employing generative AI in certain features. Naval stated that the app will offer “perfect transcripts” and allow users to generate AI art, likely for profile pictures and chat backgrounds.

A new social media app called Airchat is the latest buzzword in the world of technology. Co-founded by Naval Ravikant – an Indian-American entrepreneur and investor, the app aims to shake up the world of social media by offering a unique approach to connecting people.

Airchat app is currently in beta testing. As per its official Twitter handle, iOS beta of the app is closed with Android beta coming soon. Like other social media apps, Airchat is free to use.

Details of the Airchat app were shared by Ravikant via a post on the microblogging site where he wrote “Social media isn’t social – it’s performative. Where’s the chitchat, the banter, the easy laughter? We made something new. Push-to-talk, whenever you want. With perfect transcripts and AI art. A dinner party in your pocket.Follow @getairchat .. Never feel alone again”.

He also shared a teaser video of the app that briefly showcases some of the features of the app. From the teaser, it seems that Airchat combines the best features of popular platforms like Clubhouse and TikTok.

As of now, not much is known about the Airchat app. Although the company has teased some features like multilingual transcription and use of AI to power its chat rooms allowing users to have more natural and engaging conversations without becoming stagnant.

Additionally, Airchat app has chat rooms for various topics. One can either join the conversation or simply listen to it. The app is not limited to video/audio chats, Airchat also offers text-based chat rooms as well.

For sure Wearable technologies has been revolutionizing the way we interact with the world around us, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and data patterns is taking it to the next level. With AI technology becoming more advanced, wearables are now able to collect and analyze data in real-time, providing insights and guidance to improve daily lives.

Ajeeta Rajkumar Khatri, an Indian student hailing from Amravati, Maharashtra, recently got her conference paper titled “ Analyzing Interactions in Paired Egocentric Videos” published at the esteemed 17th IEEE International Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition. 

With the guidance of Dr. Nwogu and Dr. Butler from Rochester Institute of Technology for this research. Ajeeta, who has an MS in Computer Science, and is currently employed at Mathworks Inc., explored the impact of wearable technologies in understanding human behavior as a part of the broad field of affective computing during her research. Her research is an example of how multimodal data from wearable technologies can be combined using a machine learning based probabilistic framework to successfully make agnostic assessments of human behavior in social conversations. 

She collected paired conversational data from multiple human users wearing two specific wearable technologies – Vuzix glass and Empatica wristband. By combining multimedia information from the Vuzix glass with physiological information received from the Empatica wristband, Ajeeta could successfully demonstrate agreement/disagreement in a paired conversation. She utilized multiple machine learning models : hidden Markov, random forests and Bayesian for linking arousals/emotions in a conversation to make assessments of agreement/disagreement to specific topics. Ajeeta’s research provides a tool that has the potential to be deployed in paired conversational settings – and can transform radically the fields of behavioral psychology, security (interviews) and can be deployed in a social environment with consent to better understand human behavior. An automated process, based on principled mathematics, to understand human emotions based on physiological data and video/audio information can prove useful in the modern world where humans and machines are becoming inseparable.
