2 Dallas Women’s Cricketers, Now USA Cricketers!

Reading Time: 3 minutes

A very proud and historical moment for the USA, as a 15 player squad has been selected for the first ever upcoming ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa. This team will be the first to represent America at a Cricket World cup since the Men’s under-19 team in 2010. Very special indeed!

But this is an even prouder moment for Dallas as two of our own superstars are named in that squad! Of course, Snigdha Paul and Sai Tanmayi Eyyunni. What a journey it has been for these two youngsters as they continue to shape their pathways in international cricket. This 15 player squad will consist of the first ever US Women’s Under-19 National Cricket Team. The Under-19 world cup will consist of teams from all across the world, featuring cricketing giants such as Australia, England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa, and The West Indies. It will be a great opportunity for these women to experience playing against the world’s biggest, fittest, and strongest.

USA Cricket Board Member and Women and Girls Committee Chair, Nadia Gruny said, “This World Cup is the realization of a dream for these young players who will get the honor of being the first female cricketers to ever represent USA at any Cricket World Cup. Our squad represents a new generation of American cricketers and we’re most excited to see them display their brand of cricket as rising stars announcing themselves on the World stage. Coming off series wins this summer against West Indies U19s and the UAE U19s last month, our players have had some great preparation going into South Africa. We thank all of the girls, their parents, and the wider American cricket community for their unwavering support as the squad looks forward to taking on the challenges ahead. Congratulations to all of the players selected to represent Team USA.”

With prior international experience, Snighda and Sai will be no strangers to the pressure and spotlight that will be on them. They do have an international reputation after electric performances in former series against the West Indies and UAE. Snighda had a good all-round performance in the series’ delivering with the bat and ball. Sai performed amazingly with the ball in hand and spun her team to victory. With consistent performances like these, opposing teams will fear this dynamic duo in the coming future.

Interim Chair of the USA Women’s National Selection Panel, Ritesh Kadu said, “After a very pleasing tour of Dubai, the Selection Panel has now settled on our final squad to focus on its final preparation for this historic World Cup. There were some tough choices to be made in selecting the final 15 players, but this speaks volumes about the depth that we’ve developed within the Women and Girls game in the United States over the past two years. We showed throughout the year the kind of cricket that we are capable of playing and we are really looking forward to everyone representing the country to the best of their abilities in South Africa.”

USA Women’s Head Coach, Shivnarine Chanderpaul said, “After a brilliant tour of Dubai, we are focusing on final preparations for this historic World Cup for the players and for the USA. We showed throughout the year the kind of cricket that we can play. World Cups are incredibly special and we are really looking forward to representing the country on this fantastic platform.”

The 15-player squad will travel to South Africa but there will be 5 non-traveling reserves in case.

The 16-team ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup will be held between 7 January and 29 January 2023 in South Africa and is the first-ever age group ICC women’s event.

Children are getting sick…but it’s not Covid!

Children are getting sick…but it’s not Covid!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We just finished the first week of December, and we still don’t see any less people getting sick. This year the US was hit hard with common colds, respiratory infections, and the infamous CoronaVirus. But children are the real victims here, as now the sickness rates are higher than before the pandemic.

“We are continuing to see a very high number of sick children with various respiratory problems,” said Dr. Stan Spinner, vice president and chief medical officer of Texas Children’s Pediatrics and Texas Children’s Urgent Care in Houston. “It was already pretty high before school started, but it has clearly gotten worse and faster than it typically takes.”

However, it may not just be a bad season that kids are getting sick, one heavy factor that has influenced the sickness rates is the mask usage. As we rolled into our second year of post-corona schooling, many students arrived at school without a mask. Mandates have gone down for masks in school, but some states in America are starting to change that.

Now, if the viruses are not Covid, what are they? Believe it or not, many hospitals say that most kids come with a runny nose or strep throat! During the winter, children are most likely to get strep, as the temperatures start to drop. Flu and RSV rates have increased by 11% percent since last year, causing hospitals to overflow. The rollercoaster of sickness has gotten to an extreme, and all parents want now is to just have a flu-free holiday.

Hospitals in Kansas and Missouri are now reaching capacity because of the everlasting influenza. New York officials have now urged citizens to wear masks indoors. The USA has succumbed to sickness this year. Doctors have also asked everyone to practice indoor safety precautions in order to prevent many of the colds that are catching people. One more problem repeatedly occurring is when children come to school WITH THE FLU. School nurses encourage everyone to stay home even when they are slightly sick, in order to protect the rest of the students.

“My mom is also here, she just got over the flu. My sister-in-law just got over the flu. My brother has three kids and they had flu, RSV and COVID,” said a local mother. Health officials state that the only way to prevent diseases and the influenza is to go back to covid precautions. And if this means we have to go back to online schooling, we certainly will.

The health of our country is not worth sacrificing millions of lives.

Social media ads help online retail dupers steal millions ahead of Cyber Monday

Social media ads help online retail dupers steal millions ahead of Cyber Monday

Scammers will be busy this weekend as a record 166 million individuals are expected to shop between Thanksgiving Day and Cyber Monday, according to the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights and Analytics.

“While there is much speculation about inflation’s impact on consumer behavior, our data tells us that this Thanksgiving holiday weekend will see robust store traffic with a record number of shoppers taking advantage of value pricing,” NRF CEO Matthew Shay said in a statement.

The Better Business Bureau conveyed reports to its scam tracker are just under all-time highs reached last year. From January to September, financial losses across North America from reported fraud in the “online retail” category hit about $280 million and are expected to reach $380 million by the end of the year.

“Likely, just under 5% of people who are scammed actually report it, so the real number is much larger,” said Brian Edwards, an investigator for the BBB.

People between the ages of 18 and 24 may be digitally savvy, but they’re the most likely victims of online retail fraud because it’s their preferred shopping method. And scammers have gotten smarter to trick them, even offering fake tracking numbers.

“Scammers adapt to popular trends quickly and to different social media platforms quickly, like TikTok, which helps them target younger people,” Edwards said.

Greed has no end, 3 Indians accused in $1.5 million cryptocurrency insider trading fraud

Greed has no end, 3 Indians accused in $1.5 million cryptocurrency insider trading fraud

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Two Indian brothers and their Indian American friend have been accused in the first-ever cryptocurrency insider trading scheme in the US via which they allegedly made an Illicit profit of $1.5 million.
Ishan Wahi, 32, a former product manager at Coinbase Global Inc, and his brother Nikhil Wahi, 26, were arrested Thursday morning in Seattle, Washington, where they reside. Their friend Sameer Ramani,33, who lives in Houston, Texas remains at large.

Damian Williams, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and Michael J. Driscoll, the Assistant Director-in-Charge of the New York Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, announced the unsealing of an Indictment charging the three Thursday.Charged with wire fraud conspiracy and wire fraud, all three face a maximum sentence of 20 years each on each count.

As a product manager assigned to an asset listing team at Coinbase, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, Ishan Wahi was involved in the highly confidential process of listing crypto assets on Coinbase’s exchanges, according to the indictment.

He misappropriated that Coinbase confidential information by tipping either his brother, Nikhil Wahi, or Ishan Wahi’s friend and associate, Sameer Ramani, so that they could place profitable trades in those crypto assets in advance of Coinbase’s public listing announcements.
After getting tips from Ishan Wahi, Nikhil Wahi and Ramani used anonymous Ethereum blockchain wallets to acquire crypto assets shortly before Coinbase publicly announced that it was listing or considering listing these crypto assets on its exchanges. Following Coinbase public listing announcements, Nikhil Wahi and Ramani sold the crypto assets for a profit.

On April 11, 2022, Coinbase announced that it was considering potentially listing dozens of crypto assets on its exchanges. Based on Coinbase confidential information provided by Ishan Wahi, Ramani caused multiple anonymous Ethereum blockchain wallets to purchase large quantities of at least six of the crypto assets that were to be included in Coinbase’s April 11, 2022 listing announcement.
Shortly after Ramani traded in advance of Coinbase’s April 11 listing announcement, on April 12, 2022, a Twitter account that is well known in the crypto community tweeted regarding an Ethereum blockchain wallet “that bought hundreds of thousands of dollars of tokens exclusively featured in the Coinbase Asset Listing post about 24 hours before it was published.”
The trading activity referenced in the April 12 tweet was the trading caused by Ramani. Coinbase thereafter publicly replied on Twitter noting that it had already begun investigating the matter.
On May 11, 2022, Coinbase’s director of security operations emailed Ishan Wahi to inform him that he should appear for an in-person meeting relating to Coinbase’s asset listing process at Coinbase’s Seattle, Washington office on May 16, 2022.

On May 15, he purchased a one-way flight to India and called and texted Nikhil Wahi and Ramani about Coinbase’s investigation. But prior to boarding the May 16, 2022 flight to India, Ishan Wahi was stopped by law enforcement and prevented from leaving the country.
The Securities and Exchange Commission has separately initiated civil proceedings against the three
