Indians love their Bollywood songs and we love it even more when Hollywood celebrities dance to them. Fans got to see this in action when Anil Kapoor recently spoke to George Clooney at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2022. At the end of their conversation, which had them talking about life, career, and kids, Anil asked George if he would like to join him and dance to a few Bollywood song. It should be noted that this was a virtual interaction, and both actors were seated.

As soon as George said, “I don’t mind. I’m looking forward to it,” the song Nach Punjaban (officially titled The Punjaabban Song) started playing. Anil started narrating the plot of the film JugJugg Jeeyo to George, who maintained a steady expression throughout, and eventually started laughing. It took Anil a while to teach George the perfect hand movements to perform the hook step of the song. The Trip to Paradise star gave up halfway through, and said, “I get it.” Anil insisted that he perform the hook step and George eventually gave in.

This was reminiscent of the time when Kevin Spacey danced to Chennai Express’ Lungi Dance with Deepika Padukone, Farhan Akhtar and Shahid Kapoor during IIFA 2014. At the same event, John Travolta also danced to a few Bollywood numbers with Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan.

JugJugg Jeeyo’s The Punjaabban Song was one of the most popular Hindi film songs of the year. It featured Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani. Directed by Raj Mehta, the film had Anil playing a cheating husband who wants to divorce his wife, but changes his mind after his girlfriend breaks up with him.

Parul Agrawal, a longtime Indian American drama executive at Warner Brothers Television, has been promoted to senior vice president and head of drama development, according to media reports.

Reporting to Clancy Collins White, executive vice president and head of development, she succeeds Leigh London Redman, who left in July to become President of Berlanti Productions, Deadline reported.

Agrawal will spearhead the creation of WBTV drama series, limited series, and movies for Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max, external streaming services, cable, and the broadcast networks.

Agrawal is a homegrown WBTV talent. She had done a couple of assistant stints in development and production when she joined the studio in 2010.

Starting from the bottom of the corporate ladder, she rose through the ranks to director and eventually VP drama development in 2019, according to Deadline.

A Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, alumna, she worked on several well regarded series including HBO’s Lovecraft Country, the Gossip Girl reboot, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, and the upcoming The Girls on the Bus — all for HBO Max.

Agrawal has also worked on Bad Monkey for Apple TV+, Keep Breathing, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Maid for Netflix, All American, All American: Homecoming, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Gotham Knights, Kung Fu, Riverdale, Supergirl, Superman & Lois, and Roswell, New Mexico for the CW, Blindspot and the upcoming Found for NBC, Castle Rock for Hulu, God Friended Me for CBS, and Fox’s Prodigal Son.

She has worked closely with such producers and production companies under deals at WBTV as Alloy Entertainment, Bad Robot Productions, Berlanti Productions, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Elizabeth Banks, Ava DuVernay, Mindy Kaling, Bill Lawrence, and Nkechi Okoro Carroll.

Agrawal started her TV career as the script coordinator on AMC’s Mad Men.

Agrawal’s promotion comes shortly after Warner Bros. Discovery announced that it would be laying off 82 employees from the Warner Bros. TV Group, while also opting not to fill 43 open positions, accounting for at least 26 per cent of the group’s workforce.

Tom Cruise Might Perform Spacewalk While Shooting Film On International Space Station

Tom Cruise Might Perform Spacewalk While Shooting Film On International Space Station

After doing every possible stunt on Earth, actor Tom Cruise now might blast off into space to perform a spacewalk for his upcoming film. The 60-year-old Hollywood star has teamed up with The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman on a movie pitch that involves filming in space – the plans of which were first reported in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic halted the project.

Now, speaking to BBC, Universal studio’s chairwoman Dame Donna Langley confirmed that sending Mr Cruise to space is among the studio’s missions. She revealed the details of the project and said that Mr Cruise and Mr Liman – who previously worked with the actor on Edge of Tomorrow – pitched the film during the pandemic. Ms Langley said that movie “itself actually takes place on Earth, and then the character needs to go up to space to save the day”.

“Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world to space. That’s the plan,” Ms Langley told the outlet.

“We have a great project in development with Tom that does contemplate him taking a rocket to the Space Station. And hopefully he will become the first civilian to do a space walk outside of the International Space Station. He will play a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who could save Earth,” she added.

The film is still in the dream phase and hasn’t begun production yet. But if the movie gets off the ground, as mentioned earlier, Tom Cruise would be the first movie star to shoot in outer space on the International Space Station.

Notably, Mr Cruise does have some previous ISS experience having narrated, via Earth, the 2022 documentary Space Station 3D. The actor is also known for his daredevil stunts, so it is not unsurprising that he is now setting his sights for space.

Earlier this year, a video showing the actor sitting on an airborne red bi-plane with very little – if any – assistance also surfaced on social media. The clip showed Mr Cruise standing on the bi-plane holding to nothing but a rig and talking into the camera.

Indian Actress Deepika Padukone Claims US actor Was Surprised She Could Speak English ‘Really Well’

Indian Actress Deepika Padukone has revealed that she was once complimented by an actor for speaking English fluently, despite India being home to the second-highest number of English speakers in the world.

The Bollywood star, who is one of the highest-paid female actors in India, recalled meeting the unnamed actor at a Vanity Fair party.

Although she did not mention exactly where or when the party took place, she said that every time she went to the US, she would be “upset”.

“Some of the things that are said and some of the things that are done just [make it] so obvious that people don’t know the world outside of the world that they live in,” she told the Business of Fashion publication.

Padukone continued: “I know this actor… I met him at this Vanity Fair party and he said, ‘Hey, by the way, you speak English very well’.

“I didn’t even realise what that meant. And when I came back, I said, ‘What do you mean you speak English really well?’ Did he have this notion that we don’t speak English?”

The 36-year-old actor was born in Copenhagen but raised in Bangalore. She currently lives in Mumbai with her husband and frequent co-star Ranveer Singh.

An estimated 10.6 per cent of India’s 1.4bn-strong population speaks English as a first, second or third language, according to the country’s 2011 census. It is the second-most spoken language there, after Hindi.

Elsewhere in the interview, published on Tuesday (4 October), Padukone said that international fashion brands need to understand how “extremely diverse” India is to succeed.

“It’s not one India. It’s many Indias. And as Indians, we’re also extremely proud of our history, of our culture and of our heritage,” she explained.

“Centuries and centuries of knowledge. And if you break that down into fashion – whether it’s colour, textiles, techniques, fabrics, all of these things – you need to understand all of this and find that sweet spot between who you are as a brand at the core, but also understand this new audience. The Indian consumer today cannot be taken for granted.”

Padukone was recently spotted at the front row of Louis Vuitton’s Paris Fashion Week show, alonside Ana de Armas and Gemma Chan.
