As the spring league has wrapped up, NTCA has completed another very successful season! With great competition in all age divisions, only one team throughout the whole season fought for every victory and took home the championship. This is why winners are called champions!

Under 11

In the under 11 age category, we see many youngsters exhibit their cricketing skills on the field. It’s great to see that youngsters are carrying on the sport they love on to future generations. In the U11 category we see that the CM U11 Tigers went undefeated, with great games and matured teamwork, winning the U11 category of the NTCA Spring League 2022!!

Memorial Day Cricketing Memories in Dallas!

Memorial Day Cricketing Memories in Dallas!

Reading Time: 3 minutes

A great, if not the best weekend in NTCA history, the annual Memorial day tournament comes to an end. A tournament shown through the grit of the players, coaches and parents, we were really on the edge of our seats all four days. With all age categories showing skill, precision and talent, only one team will take it all the way, and feel victory.

Under 11

In the U11 age section, we saw a battle of the win-hungry teams. Only the best out of the best could make it out alive to the finals. In the finals, we saw the NTCA U11 Rangers sport it out against the NTCA U11 Cowboys! There had to be one team winning it all, after a great match of cricket. In this encounter, we saw the Rangers win by 6 runs. The cowboys held up a great fight, taking it to the last over of the game, sadly to get all out. All in all, a great experience for the players that participated in this sector of the tournament and this amazing finals.

Best Batsman : Shayan Khurram

Best Bowler : Tarun Haricharan

Most Valuable Player : Savir Sachin Shah

Under 14

In the Under 14 age category, we had some of the older boys showcase their unique skills on the pitch. Every teM came to win, but only one actually did it. This weekend for them was more of a bonding session, rather less competitive. We could clearly see that these boys just came out to have a hefty go at the trophy, and to just enjoy the sport they love! The U14 finals showcased two very solid teams, the NTCA U14 Avengers and the NTCA U14 Blasters. Two very experienced teams, the Blasters got the edge early on and the rest of the match clicked on all cylinders for them. A decisive win, Blasters took the celebrations high and left the ground with great spirits. Avengers, who on the other hand lost, were wondering what could have happened if only just some mistakes were fixed. Another great tournament for U14 as all the players had fun and played their heart out. A great weekend in general!

Best Batsman : Suvir Gudipati

Best Bowler : Jai Sanjan Manikandan

Most Valuable Player : Shrishaan Reddy Battula

Under 16

In the Under 16 age category, these players that participated had experience, and handpicked skill and perfection! Being the most dynamic age group to play this tournament, the games started off with a bang! Extremely high scoring, with utmost value and desire. Now, this tournament for them was very serious. It was either fly high, or die. Either be trampling, or get trampled. In the final, we experienced the NTCA Eagles play the NTCA Hawks! A very high scoring match, the Hawks pulled away at the very last moment. Sometimes things go your way, and sometimes they don’t. But that’s the hidden beauty of cricket. This tournament really shaped players and cricketers. Even coaches! Spirits ridden high, the Hawks, soared to victory!

Best Batsman : Rishi Ramesh

Best Bowler : Aishik Ghosh

Most Valuable Player : Arjun Mahesh

It’s good to see the rise of cricket playing crowds in the DFW area and certainly such tournaments boost the confidence and experience of young players . There was a time when youth players had to go to other cities on long weekends to play matches , however after NTCA is making sure to provide that platform and experience here in Dallas itself , helping youth players to gain the top notch experience of the game .

Congratulations !! all the winning teams and NTCA for the successful execution of the Memorial day tournament .

Miscreants damaged the Statue of Great Mahatma Gandhi in New York !!

Miscreants damaged the Statue of Great Mahatma Gandhi in New York !!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A horrible and devious act unfolded in a New York City vicinity on Saturday, striking surprise to the onlookers.

A bronze life-size statue of the great Mahatma Gandhi was vandalized in Manhattan’s Union Square, by a group of unknown people. An act condemned as “despicable” by the Consulate General of India, everyone felt a pang of pain, pierce through their heart.

As a normal person, one would look up to Gandhiji, in respect, in high regard to someone so great, to someone so influential. Although, our social culture has changed, and some people have changed along with that too. Seeing as there has been action taken on this matter, the General Consulate of India will surely look into it.
“The matter has also been taken up with the US State Department for immediate investigation and urged appropriate action against those responsible for this despicable act.” Stated the General Consulate of India.

The White House Press Secretary has some things to say about the “terrible” incident.
“No statue or memorial should be desecrated and certainly not one like that of Gandhi, who fought for the values of peace, Justice and freedom.”
As these were also the emotions of each and every single individual who happens to cross the memorial on Saturday.

This is a shocking zap back into reality for Indian-Americans as they now realize this shocking incident.
Many People have also been reminded of flashbacks that happened in mid-December near the US State of California, as once again, mysterious miscreants disrespected the greatness of Mahatma Gandhi.

A driving force in today’s world, we still uphold the values that Mr. Gandhi taught us. We are sure that this problem should be addressed in a way that such incidents should not occur in the future .

Indian American Sonia Daptardar, age 12 of Cary, NC won the “International United Miss North Carolina Preteen!” The competition is a scholarship-style pageant that aims to glorify girls and women for their accomplishments. It promotes self-positivity while encouraging young women to be involved with the community around them.

The Pageant was held on Jan 15. Sonia received the official state crown, banner, and trophy! She would now advance to the Internationals to be held this summer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Within the competition, the judges look for the service and the helping hand that you are being to your community. Other contestants like Sonia would participate in four activities. A personal introduction speech, where they can learn public speaking skills and become confident. An interview section that prepares them for their job interview, and the formal wear section. Lastly and finally is the service you have done for the people around you.

All in all, you can conclude that the pageant prepares young girls for the world outside of them so that they can spread any positive message they want.

Sonia expressed her feelings for the competition in a quick interview.

“I entered IUM because, as its motto says, where you matter the most. The system celebrates girls and women for who they are, it promotes giving back to the society and being heroic,” said Sonia. “We got me meet so many girls from different backgrounds, make new friends and learn new skills to achieve our personal goals”-mentioned Sonia

Some of Sonia Daptardar’s goals are to eradicate world hunger and spread the joys of reading amongst young children.
